I only changed the expiry date on the credit card I use for preauthorized payments but apparently this change will not take effect until my next billing cycle as if I just signed up for preauthorization. Will I lose the $5 discount if I need to make a manual payment for this cycle.

Hi @Ian Purcell

The autopay discount should apply if the pre-authorized payment method remains active on the account moving forward.

Thank you but will it apply to my current bill if I have to make a manual payment this month (current bill is due in 2 weeks time)

@Ian Purcell The autopay discount is already applied to the bill that was issued at the beginning of February (the one that is due in 2 weeks), and it should also apply to your next bill as long as the pre-authorized payment method remains active on the account.

I have a similar situation. I just changed the expiry date on my credit card, and it states it will not take effect until the next billing cycle. Also, it says I should make a manual payment is this right or necessary.

@psfl

The autopay discount should apply to your next bill as this should go automatically through your autopay.

For the current bill due, you can go ahead with manual payment in self serve.

It is necessary to do a manual payment.

Yes, it’s recommended to make manual payment for the current bill to avoid potential late payment fees in case it won’t go automatically through your credit card.

OK, I will do that closer to the due date as I don't want to change the billing date.

Further to my original post, I expected to to pay manually because I assumed my credit card changes would not be implemented until the next billing cycle (as I was advised when I made them),  but an automatic payment was taken for my current bill so all is well. It would be helpful if Koodo is able to provide more clarity regarding minor credit card revisions (e.g. expiry date, CCV number) and the effect they will have on payments. For example, is there a point during the billing cycle when changes will require a manual payment?

@Ian Purcell if the payment was already processed from your new credit card then it’s already active and a manual payment is no longer required.

Generally, if the due date is close or already passed a manual payment is suggested to avoid late payments fees.
