Question

Charges even the account was never activated

I recently agreed to a Koodo mobile plan offer during Black Friday. However, I soon realized that this plan is not suitable for me, nor is the company. Consequently, I requested Koodo to cancel the plan and the SIM cards that were mailed to me. While my Koodo account now shows the plan as cancelled, I have been billed $182 (or $80.40 per line) for service charges. Since the service was never activated on any of my phone lines, and SIM cards were never activated either could you please advise on how I can have these activation fees removed from my account and completely close the account with Koodo? Thank you

Here’s what you can do :

  • Contact Koodo directly and explicitly ask them to cancel within the trial period (15 days in-store, 30 days online) and request a refund for the activation/connection fees. Make it clear the service was never used.
  • - Any recurring charges billed at the start of your cycle get partially refunded so you only pay for days service was actually active. Since yours wasn’t active at all, you shouldn’t owe anything.
  • - Refunds over $5 process within 7 days from your first bill after cancellation.

The activation fees should come back if you’re still within that window. If Koodo pushes back, you can flag a rep to escalate this at koodo.com/chat since you’ve got documentation that service was never activated.

You can contact Koodo on messenger so that they reserve the charges.

Did you activate your account at the Koodo store or over the phone? If so, there may be a connection fee of $80 charged for each line. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/your-koodo-bill-after-youve-activated-a-new-account-or-added-a-new-line

The SIM cards were deleted at the time a called to cancel the agreement and were never activated anyway. The initial phone numbers associated with my account doesn’t even exist in Koodo system anymore and cannot have the option to schedule a call back with Koodo through self service because of that

It was deifnitely activated for you to have been charged and to cancel the service. You would receive a final bill that would correct the reversal of you opting to return/cancel within the first 30 days. You’ll have to either try through Facebook Messenger with links below or give any other phone number you have to Koodo Assist if you want to schedule a callback to speak with a rep about it.

It does not matter if the SIM cards are deleted. The connection fee would be applied when you activated it in-store unless there was an offer to credit the fee back onto your account.

I would suggest you to schedule a callback through Koodo Assist to speak with a rep and see if they are able to waive the fee. https://Koo.do/Chat
