Hello,

I was charged an $18 roaming fee while I was in Europe but I did not roam. I bought an e sim the first day I arrived. Please have this charge reversed. Thank you.

Hi @ClaireDorrington, we have looked into the charge you mentioned and it was triggered by data usage while roaming. For more details, please check the usage section in your self serve.

For more information on how to prevent accidental charges while roaming, please check out the article linked above.

The charges are valid, but if you would like to dispute them further you can send us a private message on social media via Facebook, Twitter/x or Instagram or speak to the Koodo Expert Messaging team via the Koodo Assist.

Hey,

Check your detailed PDF bill (Self Serve > Bills, pages 3-4) to confirm what triggered the $18 charge; could be an SMS ping, Live Voicemail, or data even with eSIM.

To avoid this next time: Airplane mode on, data off, or SIM out (Data Roaming toggle often misses voice/SMS). See https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/understanding-how-youll-be-charged-while-travelling.

If you want, I can flag a rep for you to review this.

Unfortunately it was probably something you didn’t intend to occur that caused it. You can opt to remove internaitonal data roaming in your self-serve add-ons, which will mean the only way to roam would be to acept or make a call (including voicemail) and making an ongoing SMS. That should prevent any further unintended roaming, and you’ll keep the option to receive 2FA texts as required at no additional cost
