charged for long distance

I was charged 36$ this month for long distance and I didn't leave Canada? Im near the USA borders.

We have been able to review the account and we were able to see that you never left the country, therefore we have been able to adjust your bill.

As @rikkster mentioned, turning off data roaming and switching the network to manual (and selecting Koodo) should prevent the accidental usage while near the border, here you can find out more

If you live or travel close to the U.S. border, it's best to turn off automatic network selection and manually select Koodo as your mobile network operator. To avoid roaming charges, turn data roaming off. If you need assistance with these settings, let us know which phone you have.

Can you login to your self serve and check which number/area code  you got charged?

You mentioned that long distance charge- you might call to US?
