Billing Cycle and the Charges

Hello,

I opened a new line with Koodo on Feb 11, 2026 and the agent on the phone explained to me that the invoice for the first billing cycle will include the 6 days of February and the next whole month together as the billing cycle lays on 17th of each month.

I received my invoice today and I confirmed that the charges were made for the 6 days and the full month together.

Does Koodo charge a monthly billing in advance as in I haven’t used up all of the Feb 17 - March 16, 2026?

@MilkyWay  Thanks for the URL and the explanation.  This means that my next bill/invoice will cover for Mar 17 - April 16 period…

Yes this is correct.  Postpaid service, bills 1 month in advance.

Hypothetically say I cancel my plan on April 1st.. I should be expecting to receive a refund on the portion that is not used from April 2 - 16, instead of being billing for March 17 - April 1st period… Do you know when Koodo has changed the billing methodology? To me, this sounds like a prepaid not a monthly.

Yes you will be charged and then refund for the unused portion of the monthly plan based on your cancellation date and will prorate your plan.

This is the norm and is industry wide practice to bill 1 month ahead.  This is the same for Home phone, cable, and home internet services in Canada for many many years.

That is correct. Your billing cycle is assigned at activation, which is why you see the full bill cycle on your first bill. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/your-koodo-bill-after-youve-activated-a-new-account-or-added-a-new-line
