Question

Bank Account Payment Declined for no reason and now I will have an NSF charge.

I set up bank payments to save my mom money each month. I put all banking details in as asked and there is always money in the account but I got emails that the payment was declined and I would have $50 nsf charge. I’m not sure how to proceed.

Has auto pay by bank worked successfully in the past on this koodo account?

Log into Self Serve, go to Payments, and double-check the banking details match exactly (name, address, transit/account numbers); mismatches often cause declines even with funds.

Cancel the old PAD setup there, then re-set it up via Plaid for reliability: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/setting-pre-authorized-payments.

I just set up the bank payment for the first time this month but I did enter the info correctly. I added it again but I didnt  cancel the old one so I hope it works and I don’t get the NSF charge. Thank you for replies. Is there no way to actually talk to a koodo rep?

There are reps that manage this platform however they jump in when they’re needed. For the most part, most issues can be resolved with other community members.

I would ask your mum again if there were sufficient funds in the account. There may be money in there but if there was not enough to cover the bill say if another bill came out the same day and the balance remaining wasn’t enough, the payment from the bank would get rejected. I would double check with the bank.

I would definitely check her bank account too, because if it was due to NSF, the bank would also charge your mom a NSF fee on top of the one Koodo forwards for declined payment.

There was definitely money as I have it linked to one of my accounts to be sure.  Thank you for the replies, I’ll contact my bank to see if it was as issue with them. I paid the bill by credit card so hopefully I don’t get the NSF charge.

Unfortunately the NSF charge will stick regardless of if you’ve paid the bill by another method after the fact.

Oh really? Even if it wasn’t my error? My banking information was in correctly.

You will need to schedule a callback through Koodo Assist and speak with a rep to see if they can waive the NSF fee. You can give it a try, but there are no guarantees. https://Koo.do/Chat

To prevent this from happening again, you may want to consider using Plaid instead to set up the pre-authorized payments. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/setting-pre-authorized-payments
