Why the heck am I still getting charged 3g surcharges when I have a 5g phone.. only reason my phone would fall back to 3g is if LTE or 5g isn't available

Were your phone compatible with Koodo VoLTE? I wonder they charged you because the phone has to switch to 3G for call and texting. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/explaining-koodos-3g-usage-price-increase?

@BRMarch If you go into self-serve, and you check your list of add-ons, do you have “VoLTE access” in the list? If not, we can flag a rep to have it added. If you do, do you have VoLTE enabled in your network settings?

@Rx7man

Just to top up on Dinh’s reply, you can check the compatibility with Koodo here

More info about Volte compatibile devices can be found here

@BRMarch

We have been unable to find a 3G price increase charge on your bill. Can you please share a screenshot of where you see the 3G price increase charge?

My bill is suddenly $7/month higher without warning. Whatever the reason you don’t do this to a long term customer. My family had three accounts with you. We’ll be switching.

The Koodo rep above mentioned there wasn't any 3G use charge on your bill. The source of the increase might be from some where else. I recommend you check the page 3 and 4 of your latest pdf bill. It might offer more insight.

It sounds like a rate plan increase. The 3G surcharge is a $3/month charge if your phone uses the 3G network at all in a billing cycle.

I suggest checking the first and last page of your bill the month before the bill went up. The notification should be there. Unless there was a credit that expires on your account.

If you see it, and you still want to leave, note that any carrier without a price guarantee will often raise their prices. Whether you stay with Koodo or not, you’ll want to periodically look at plan deals for the best value at any given time.
