My brother was charged 7 times for 411 calls on our last bill. He says he’s never called the number. Why is this happening and can we set up the phone so the number cannot even be accidentally dialled?
Have you checked their phone to see if you can see the calls to 411 in their call logs?
I’ll be honest, when it comes to things like roaming charges, those can sometimes be messed up like if you get too close to the border, but with things like 411 charges, it’s pretty black and white. If the number is called, then it is billed for. If it’s not, then it isn’t. Maybe someone else had access to their phone and made the calls without them knowing?
As for blocking it, I don’t believe there is a way to but I’d be more than happy to flag a rep to see if there is a way if you’d like.
I checked the call log and yes, indeed, there are 7 instances of this number. My brother is in a different province from me and also in long term care so sometimes the staff have to help him with his phone. It’s possible that someone else spent too much time dialling 411 (!). I would like to know if the number can be blocked though so thanks for your reply and for the offer to flag a rep for me.
I believe you cannot block outgong 411 as it is part of Koodo postpaid plan. If you want to avoid it, you can switch the number to prepaid, that should help.
As well, make sure 411 wasn't programed in any speedial number.
Hi
For calls made to 411 from Android/iOS, there is no option to block them from our end, however, there might exist third party apps for Android or iOS, that may be able to block calls made to specific numbers (those are not supported by Koodo though).
Thank you both for your help. I’ll be making some changes for sure.
