I frequently travel to rural areas and dont have LTE/5G.

It says Ill be connected to 3G with 4 or  5 signal strength, and yet data rarely ever works. If it does work, it is incredibly incredibly slow, taking over a minute to load a page, if it doesnt give up half way. (way slower then when 3g was the norm)

Just wondering if this is because 3g being phased out, or if there is settings issue on my phone (iphone 13)

3G/4G is unfortunately just slow. You can try a speedtest to see but basically the data speeds just aren’t there anymore for those lower end networks. If it shows LTE, then you’re ok for data speeds.

I don’t think that 3G is bieng fully phased out yet, but spectrum has been continually reallocated to LTE/5G from the “legacy” networks. I still feel like it should give you at least a few mbps. Is that what you get if you do a speed test?

As for phones. Sometimes when I lose LTE, I have to cycle airplane mode to get it back. It’s something you could try with your phone.
