Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.  According to model number is 5G enabled.
I’m currently paying for a 5G plan
SIM card is as old as the phone, about 4years.

All I see in the notification bar is LTE.  When I go under transit train tunnels, it switches to 4G.

In Calgary, mostly downtown.
Why am I not getting 5G?

What’s the deal here?

Also, I want to buy a new phone but it will make me change my phone plan to a 4G phone plan on Tab Plus or Tab Mid.  Is this a deal breaker?

The S20 series from Samsung had the 5G modem. However, Samsung and Koodo didn’t have firmware to enable it, unfortunately. It was a known issue.

You could try to update firmware again to see if we are lucky but the chance is slim.
