I’m not aware of any postpaid options for restrictions aside form you can prevent them from agreeing to data overages, which you can set in self-serve to be only the main account holder that can authorize it.
As for calling outside of Canada, Koodo has it set up such that calling international numbers in Canada requires a free add-on called “ Pay-Per-Use Intl Long Distance “ You can make sure that add-on isn’t on their lines.
Roaming also requires adding “International Voice Roaming” for voice and texts and “International Data Roaming” in addition in order to roam with data.
Thanks Goran. I just tried removing these options in the self-serve add-ons and it says this is not possible. I have scheduled a callback - again - to see if this is something they can do on their end.
I have already called a few days ago to get customer service to take care of this request and their website was down when we went to do this change. The rep was going to call back but never did. This is should be easier than this!
But thanks for your help Goran,
Hi
I have a similar question to Eballinger
I have a basic plan on the phone $30 1GB Plan SFD… my 11 yr old uses this phone (CANADA)
I received a phone bill that was WAY over the $30 and almost freaked!!
I assumed if the data was used up before the next cycle then she would not be able to use -- however it appears this is not the case.
I have seen the message they send to press Y if you want to increase data… but does that mean she pressed the Y and kept going? or if the data amount is used up does it just keep extending and thus increased costs to my bill.
How do I prevent this from happening again
The bill is not very clear on what the extra charges are except Data and SMS…
Thanks
Put kids on prepaid. They can only burn the money you have paid in advance. No roaming. No in-app purchases charged to the account which seems to be popping up with alarming regularity.
Ok - I thought I was on a “pre-paid” plan - this is why I was shocked at the extra charges
I have tried to reach the customer service but no luck yet.
@Loreen The plan you have picked for your child is a data only plan. Meaning SMS is not included. There were 72 text message sent and that is why last months bill is higher. You may simply want to switch them to a plan that comes with unlimited text to avoid a surprises.
@eballinger We have sent you a private message to get more info, in order to help you! :)
