Transferring SIM chip to a new phone

Hello,

I recently acquired a new phone thorough Koodo with a 2-year payment plan. I am now considering buying another phone directly from Samsung.

My question is whether I can seamlessly move my SIM card from my Koodo phone to the new Samsung device without encountering any problems.

I intend to continue using both phones, including the one form Koodo.

Yes, you could put the SIM card from your current device into your Samsung without any problem.

I’m planning on getting a replacement phone, and wondered this - is all that’s needed to be done is move the SIM card from the old one?  I thought it would need to somehow be registered with Koodo (new vs. old), but that’s it?

Yes, in case of a device swap, all you need to do is to move the current Koodo sim into the new phone.

In case of a sim swap, then the replacement must be completed in self serve

Really - All that’s needed to be done is move the SIM over to the new phone??  From both my question, and this answer, I guess it’s kinda clear that what I’d thought was based on pretty old tech (I now realize that what I’d thought was pre-SIM phones).
