Have you tried setting up Call Control and adding the number to your blocked list? The call would not be forwarded to voicemail.
If someone is harassing you, you dont need to listen to the entire voice message. Just delete the message by pressing 7 when you are playing the message

Have you tried setting up Call Control …
No I’ve been reluctant to do that as the few times I’ve had to do it for other people’s VMs I’ve been irritated and wondered why they need call control. I wouldn’t want someone thinking that about me as this is also a business line. If it becomes necessary, I can also change the number, but then I have to change my marketing materials and all the 2FA with all my accounts etc. This may make Call Control the “l;east worst option”.
If someone is harassing you, you dont need to listen to the entire voice message.
Yes I know. The point is because she has 5 minutes to talk, she gets to run off at the mouth for 5 minutes at a time, wildly imaginging I’m going to listen to all this nonsense, and so she calls back 8 times in a day. She wouldn’t call back more than once if she got cut off after 30 seconds or better still 10 or 15 seconds. That’s why I want the control.
And Koodo used to offer that control - you used to be able to set your maximum message length to either 30- seconds or 2 minutes. But in one of the laughingly-titled “system upgrades”, that went to 5 minutes with no options. I’ve become this person’s default shrink - or rather this VM has become that, to my detriment.
Even if the voicemail is 30 secs, it won’t necessarily prevent them from calling 8 times a day or even more.
Unfortunately Koodo doesnt offer this feature. And even if it was a 30sec voicemail you will still need to login to delete them.
Understood. I still have a home phone where I’ve set the voicemail to 15 seconds - she never calls it any more because she can’t rant. It’s too bad she found out my cell.
And that’s the point of this whole screed - to let Koodo know that not every change is a benefit. I have no idea who could possibly need to leave a voicemail 5 minutes long. I doubt they could tell me either. But somebody obviously thought it was a good idea, so the tech group programmed it up, installed it, and now I’m gonna look for a different service. Because my phone should have to be a therapist for the illnesses of a few in our community.
Do you still want the option to have a voicemail for people to leave messages? You mention it’s a lines used for business, so maybe you do not? If you are ok with it, you can check out the disable your voicemail options here to see if it’ll fit you needs as well:

Thanks I’m a consultant working from home so it’s mostly my personal cell and when I’m on a contract sometimes people contact me about contract matters or information.
I dunno, maybe it’s usual in business now to have to push a number to reach someone. And yes I want voice mail. Just not 5 minutes worth of it.
Sorry, I’m just trying to understand the logic of long VM messages - I don’t think I’ve ever left someone a VM with extensive amounts of information that is better communicated in writing or in person or directly by phone call. I’m sure it happens from time to time, But I’m older and I recognize perhaps young people use VMs for different purposes than I do.
