Have a new 5g phone on its way ans was wondering if i need to get a new sim for it or will the sim from my 4g phone work for 5g service? also. if i switch to a 5g plan now (good price currently) will it work on my existing 4g phone until my new one arrive.

There’s not a good way to tell, but as long as it’s not a super old sim card, it should be fine to support 5G.
If you switch to a 5G plan now, it’ll continue to work on your 4G phone, just only on the 4G network.
