Why did my rate increate from $39 to $44 a month without my consent or any notification?

Did you check the last page of your previous bill? There should be something in small print notifying you of the rate increase.

No. there was nothing on my last bill. Would it help if I sent you a copy?

Did you download a PDF copy of the bill? It should be there.

I did download the PDF, but there’s nothing about an increase on the bill.

Hi @grallen

We have reviewed the details and we can see there was an increase notification on the September bill, last page.

I’m sorry. Yes, I see the notification now. That really is sneaky. Now I’m thinking about changing to another provider.

I agree with you @grallen. My bill was also increased in Oct and I didn’t even know there was a tiny print at the end of the previous bill mentioning about this. Very unprofessional.

Came here for the same reason. Appreciate finding the answer here however it is a rather shady way of doing business. Hiding it at the bottom of a bunch of pages on your invoice vs, oh, I don’t know….how about on last months email/invoice with a “Hey, your rates are changing next month” header? Had been thrilled with plan and pricing. Coverage in my area can be a little sketchy at times but for the price, was willing to overlook that.

Me too!!!

Me too!!!  If you’ve got our phone numbers why didn’t you text everyone ahead of this month’s bill - you know?  Like a reminder from the dentist or doctor that you’ll get 5 times even though you know already!  So disappointed in Koodo.

Understandably Koodo doesn’t need my consent to change the rate. But same here, had a surprise on my current bill. I had to go back 2 billing cycles to find notification of the pending increase buried in the fine print.

Like many others, I don’t recall ever having a rate increase before (unless I intentionally upgraded my plan), and haven’t even had my rate plan for a year yet. Needless to say this is super disappointing. I’ve been checking out other providers, and have come across some great deals for similar plans at a lower cost. Maybe it won’t pan out in the long run (as with Koodo), but there’s currently a lot of choice and I’m going to vote with my $$.

I hear you ericah!  I only started my rate plan in July and was thrilled.  Still, even with the hidden in the fine print $5 additional charge at Koodo’s discretion,  I still am paying $1.50 less than I was paying with Telus (and I did not have any data with Telus or unlimited long distance).  One of the  reasons I went to Koodo is I’d been with Telus for over 20 years, and they kept adding charges  - 3 rate increases over 2 years, that took my bare bones statement/charge from $25 to $39.20.   NUTS.  So I was tickled to get the great deal in the summer as I’d been looking to stick it to Telus for sometime.  (I know they are one and the same/sort of)  So, like you, if this is the trend that is starting with Koodo, I will be starting to look to change providers a lot quicker than I did with Telus.   SHAME on  you Koodo for burying that info in the fine print.  I REPEAT KOODO - you have our phone #s - send us a text to let us know there is a rate change afoot.  Or put the dang information in large print on the front page of billing.  Disappointed.
