The monthly mobile plans were increased $5/ month without my consent, yes the last page of last bill states it, but no email or notifications were sent to notify me. This is unacceptable.
Why could this happen? I demand a refund of $12 since I was not notified of this rate changes.

And why is it so hard to reach a live agent? No live chat, unable to reach them
I've scheduled call back but disconnected for the first call and then no agents ever called back. It says would call at least 3 times per requested call back. That was a lie obviously.

Same experience here, I can’t find any “30 day price increase notice” in my email either. I’m contemplating either downgrading my plan or move to a different service provider.

I have changed to the plan available on my profile, $30 (with auto pay) 4G , 60GB for now. My old plan was $29 4G 20GB, so it’s still fair. But I think Koodo did a really bad job in notifying customers of rate changes.

I am likely to change to other providers in Dec, black friday..

All my plan upgrade options on the portal are “more expensive”, and seems like the cheaper ones are only for phone upgrades (no thanks!). The most annoying part for me is feeling like my choices in the portal are limited and unable to reach anyone for help. Feels like I’m being encouraged to leave.

Edit to say: I found my same plan elsewhere for the old price so I’m choosing to leave.

I just saw my account and amazed to know that the contract we sign is garbage regardless of the contract they increased without any justification…..

I’m thinking of switching as Koodo is becoming very uncertain and who knows maybe next time they’ll increase 20 dollars without any justification/reason….

with whom? I’m also plannin on switchin

Very annoyed they changed the monthly rate without considerate and proper notice. A single line that is confusingly worded at the end of a bill is the notice they provided. What’s the point in self service if Koodo is going to up the rates when they want? It felt like they are trying to sneak it by us. Hoping their customers don’t notice. Completely lost my trust ! And you can’t get a hold of a human being, which makes matters worse since there is no one to communicate the rate hikes. They lack transparency

Scheduling an appointment right now will take until Saturday evening - days in advance is completely ridiculous. Clearly many people are outraged with the way they treat their customers. Only been with Koodo for about 10 months and they’re already raising the prices. The Koodo rep that sold me the plan lied to me. He said I would be on a legacy rate and that it wouldn’t change.

It’s nice that people are calling this bad behaviour out. We deserve to be treated better. Let’s see how they respond. Black Friday is just around the corner.

My bill was increased by $5 +tax without a notice!!! It was not even one year term.  When I signed an agreement , we agreed to a different rate. If the other party amends it's agreement , it should be mutually agreed.

I am switching.  I do not want to see other "surprises" from Koodo.

Legally the notification on the bill counts as proper notification. It is not required to be an email or text. You still have to accept it, with refusal being leaving g Koodo at no penalty. However, As I understand it, if you're currently on a term contract with a subsidized device, the price should remain the same and you have the 30 days to refuse to accept a rate plan increase. If you like, I can flag a rep for you to contest it if you're on a tab contract with a subsidized device.

Unacceptable. This crass, rapacious behavior among the Canadian Telcos needs to stop.

I reluctantly signed-up a few months ago for the $45 plan after my old Koodo plan expired, assured (by the lady at the kiosk at Polo Park Mall) that this would be my rate forever, with no more hassles, no sneaky increases. “Cool,” I thought, “everything’s set, no having to constantly worry about lurching from one carrier to another every couple of months, to protect my wallet from Telco-rape.”

Wow. Was I wrong.

Of course I didn’t see the “notification” of the rate increase, as it was deftly hidden, so when I got my latest e-bill, up from $50.40 (after tax-on-tax) since June to $54.88, due Oct 31st, I was enraged at the unjustified, casual grab for my wallet.

On Tuesday evening I navigated the infuriating A.I. “Koodo Assistant,” before finally typing in the magic spells to receive a call-back, which wouldn’t happen until Thursday, at Koodo’s convenience. I opted for 9 AM, during my work break, wanting this nonsense to be over with asap.

Got a dude (with shockingly good English for once) named “Louis” from Central America. Long story short, helped me navigate the “Self Serve” on my phone to where all the plans are. Told me I could get my plan back. Yeah, there it was, $45, but, BUT,  only if I enable “Auto-Pay.” Seriously? Given all the reported shenanigans, do these clowns really think I’m comfortable giving them unfettered access to my bank account, when it can take up-to 2 days or more to talk to a hired drone reading boilerplate from anywhere on the planet, if there should be a billing issue?

I balked at being frog-marched over the phone to a new plan, especially one demanding “Auto-Pay” and he actually lied, saying I could get my old plan back but without the “Auto-Pay” stipulation. Yeah, right. They are allowed to lie because there are no consequences, there is absolutely no real accountability. No way in hell I would allow any Utility to have direct, automatic access to my accounts. That’s just stupid, you’re asking to get ripped-off.

Guess I’ll have to pay this month, but first chance I get, I’m jumping ship.. This kind of behavior from Koodo does not engender loyalty. I just want a simple plan that will stay stable for at least 2 years without having to worry about it, but I guess that’s asking too much. Scumbags. I’m all for Nationalization of our Telecommunications, but because the Corpos already effectively own and control our Government, that will never happen.

Koodo used to be very good with holding their plan pricing. In the past I have had friends with Virgin and Fido experience legal rate plan increases with 30 days notice. It seems koodo has finally adopted this and have been very aggressive with it (anecdotally I think they have been more aggressive than Fido and Virgin now).

This is why I miss MTS when it was a crown corporation.
