Hi,

I have a plan with Koodo for $45 monthly. I’ve just received the October bill and noticed that my monthly plan cost increased to $49 under the same plan. I did not make any change and wasn’t made aware of this price increase. I’ve gone through the bills/invoices PDF files for past 6 months and did not find any notification at all for a price increase.  Was this a mistake? Please help.

Thanks.

Hi @YOO

We looked into it and we see that the price increase was announced on the September bill page 6.

Please download the PDF bill in self serve for more details

Hi there, thank you for the speedy response.  Not sure how I missed that.  Otherwise, i would have started sourcing to switch to other providers sooner for all 3 accounts we have in the family.  Guess i should start looking now.  Thanks.

Same thing happened to me, couldn’t find any mention of an increase anywhere until I checked this thread. On the very last page of the Sept bill, as a small footnote it says “Starting on your next bill, your monthly rate plan fee will increase by $4. If you recently changed or upgraded your plan, please disregard this message.”

No details, no explanation, no further info. It seems almost intentionally hidden. Looking around online it seems Koodo has been pulling this with a lot of customers lately. Like OP it looks like it’s time to start searching around for alternatives.

That's pretty much all the details needed, no? Any explanation the major telecoms make is usually “to provide better value” or something to that effect. I still think it'd be better to have such announcements made front and centre for your bill but it seems Koodo still feels like it should be placed at the end.

As for looking for alternatives, I'd wait for Black Friday as it's the best deals of the year for all carriers and you can make your most informed decision then.

I also have missed the memo on ‘page 6’. Not impressed!

As for Black Friday sales beware that Koodo increased the monthly payments for a great number of people about 6 months afterwards.

I missed the little memo as well and was in for a surprised.

“Update to your monthly rate plan:  Starting on your next bill, your monthly rate plan fee will increase by $5. If you recently changed or upgraded your plan, please disregard this message.”

I do not appreciate this little small memo print regarding price increases. I don’t have an issue with the price change as much as the avenue they chose to convey this method.  It feel sneaky and disingenuous.  I have two lines under one account so to me there was an increase in $11 per month. No one likes to see their bill increasing by a few dollars without explicit communication.  A separate email of that increase in our monthly cost would’ve been appreciated and made me, as a consumer feel valued. I do not feel valued.

Beginning of Oct, Koodo had a glitch in their system and many were able to use their data for a day or two.  Okay. Fine.  There weren’t any way to contact customer service either. In store Koodo had always been helpful in the past. Neither were they helpful during this time.  This was surprising to me.  I’m realizing I’m no longer their target customers.  Well, thank you Koodo for your service. I’ve reached a point where I rather pay a little bit more for quality.   Tired of cheap low quality products and services.  Will be switching to another service provider.

Not pleased with Koodo and regret not staying with Bell.

My plan increased by $3 per month.

I noticed the increase yesterday and then saw this thread.

I’m going to stay with Koodo as I think the cost of living has increased and this is just a consequence.

My plan is a keeper even with the increase.

Count me in as another that “missed” the memo. Something has changed with Koodo, customer for 10 years with multiple phones but likely wont make it to 11. 😔
