Under the CRTC’s Wireless Code, service providers cannot charge more than $100 for roaming per billing cycle unless you explicitly agree to pay more.

Why am I being charged more than $100 for roaming in my koodo billing cycle? Would the $16/ day for international roaming only apply until you meet the $100 threshold CTRC Wireless Code cap for international roaming within the billing cycle?

Would the Koodo $100 data roaming cap ever apply to Easy Roam when using the mobile phone Canadian Data Plan Internationally?

Hi @Court

There is a $100 cap for pay per use data when roaming, for more info, please check this article https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/data-usage-alerts?srsltid=AfmBOopP2RIFeAWv4r4FFW51-fIxtj1JWnsWlNL64CDQltGb_wW0dIYG

The cap for Easy Roam US and Easy Roam Intl can be verified in our Easy Roam article https://www.koodomobile.com/en/services/easyroam

For customers with a Canadian/US plan Koodo will automatically use the customers phone plan when using easy roam. International data and international voice calling add ons are required for this function.

The Koodo contract mentions a $100 cap with international roaming specific to data usage during the billing cycle. Will this apply to phone plans as well if they go over their phone plans data?

I'm asking why the roaming fee was charged more than the CTRC wireless code  $100 cap which is specific to roaming fees within the billing cycle.

According to the language used in the CTRC Wireless Code; I should not be charged more than $100 for roaming charges within the billing period ( $16/day until the $100 cap for roaming charges is reached).

Yes, I’ve had my concerns for a long time about it. Since you mention the Wireless Code, it currently states:

“ Any amount that the customer pays in data roaming fees, whether via a roaming add-on (before use) or via overage fees (after use), counts toward this cap. “

To me, that counts for easy roam, as it’s a roaming add-on placed before use. Seems like the wording changed and the wireless carriers haven’t applied it yet. I’d follow up on this basis if you were charged more than 100 dollars without a stop for an explicit agreement to continue charges.
