Hi, I will be travelling outside canada for 40 days soon. I have local sim of the travel destination and will use that all the time. I will only need to use my koodo sim for incoming otp texts from banks etc when I need to login to them from time to time.

According to my understanding, when I put in my koodo sim , I need to make sure that mobile data and data roaming are off at that time. I will receive the incoming text and won’t be charged for the same.

Is this assumption correct or would I be charged anything ? Thank you for the help.

Hi @GujjuCanuck

If you are traveling outside of Canada and US, it’s also recommended to remove the International Data Roaming add on under Mobile Services - Manage add ons. This way, the phone won't be able to connect to mobile data, in case you turn it on on your phone by accident.

You will still be able to receive incoming texts (no charge for it).

In case you need, you can make/ receive calls and send text messages (those will incur roaming charges).

For more info about how to prevent unwanted roaming charges, please check out this article https://community.koodomobile.com/plans-services-232910/easy-roam-understanding-how-you-will-be-charged-while-traveling-7811296
