Did you use Koodo prior to 2021?
Yeah but the bill is after the 2021, the period I was not using it
But did you actively cancel your account or did you just stop using it?

That sounds like the issue. Just stopping using the service does not stop your account. You need to let koodo know you want to cancel.
So you were continued to be charged until koodo suspended and canceled your account and sent it to collections. I assume you found out about this when collections called you?

This is how all wireless, cable, home internet, water, electricity, any subscription service, etc type company does business. They dont know you are canceling unless you tell them.
You will need to deal with the collection agency. It also means you can negotiate with the collection agency. I recommend you google how to deal with collection agencies in canada for some tips. But this debt owing will hurt your credit, so I recommend you take care of this sooner than later
