Hi guys, Why my Bill increased from 33 to 39 a month, its only been 7 months that I’m on Koodo and I did signed a contract too????? Does anyone knows why koodo is increasing bill all of a sudden…….
I recommend you download the PDF bill of the previous month (right before the rateplan increased). Check the last page of it. There should be a notice of price increase there.
The contract is a monthly contract. By regulation, they only need 30 day notice.
When you say contract, do you mean you got a device on subsidy with a tab? Otherwise it's not considered a tab contract where your express and informed consent is required.
They increased mine too, without any notification according to any of my bills in my email. I’m also not on contract and own my phone. Looks like i’ll be switching to bell

Did you check your detailed pdf ebill for the month prior to the rate plan increase like Dinh mentioned above?
The notification would be on the last page.
And if you do plan to jump ship, I highly recommend doing so during the upcoming black Friday promo sales. But it is completely up to you what you decide.
As stated by many other customers in this and other threads (several posts about rate increases here, on Reddit, etc), I too was surprised by the Oct/24 rate increase. My bill is on autopay so unless my bill is an amount other than the usual amount, I have no need to review the statement each month if the amounts are correct. Unless I’m reading to see the VERY SMALL FINE PRINT FOUND AT THE VERY END of the bill that advises of a rate increase.
Talk about dubious billing practices. Koodo needs to properly position and advise its customers of a rate change UP FRONT on the bill. The way it’s done now, it’s obvious that we’re supposed to miss that fine print at the very end of our statement (one most of us likely don’t look at closely if the amount is standard) so we won’t kick up a fuss about it until it’s too late and by then, they know we probably won’t change providers because of the hassle. I abhor this practice!
I’ve been a loyal Koodo customer for 15+ years but am TIRED of the regular increases when service in no way improves and I’m not even getting valued as a customer by being notified effectively about rate increases.
Koodo - how about when you send out the email/text that notifies us that our bill is ready, YOU ADD A NOTE THAT ADVISES ME MY PLAN RATE IS GOING UP NEXT MONTH?! Would it REALLY be so hard to do that?
I’ve spent 2 months in Mexico the past two winters (working remotely, not vacationing) and my cell rate there gives me 3 MONTHS of service for what I pay in Canada for one month! Over two months I spent a total of $35 which gave me data, texting, SMS and calls across North America!
Cell providers in Canada are a massive ripoff and sadly Koodo seems to be no exception. They will be hearing directly from me about the suggestion in red text above, and I suggest others do the same, enough requests can make it happen!

Talked to customer service and told them Bell and Rogers are offering cheaper plans for more data than what they are charging me. Koodo offered me a even higher monthly rate….They do not care about customers, I suggest everyone leave.

They’d rather not do it and have some customers complain then do it and have the same (or more) customers leave. It’s a business decision. One that I do not support, but still comprehensible.

The 17 percent increase from Sept to Oct didn’t make me very happy. Your govt says inflation is less than 2 percent. Why your 17 percent? Also, I pay for 30g and only use 2g maximum! Do you think Elon Musk or Purple Cow will have a better plan in future? Take care.
