Ok, so apparently there was a teeny tiny notification buried at the bottom of my last bill that they were changing the cost of my phone plan this month. It’s annoying that I didn’t notice it, but they did (very very technically) “tell” me, so I understand that it was allowed (despite the mobile carrier sales rep telling me it was a “permanent price” when I switched over. But that’s not in writing. So. Sucks to be me I guess. Sigh.)

Ok, grumbling time is now over. :P

What I’m wondering now is: how often can I expect them to randomly increase my bill? I’m not on any kind of contract or tab, I brought my own device. Do I need to be looking for something more locked-in elsewhere?

They don’t disclose any information on when and how they increase their rateplan. However, I don’t think they increase it every year.

Anyway, many carriers are doing the same. Here is one example https://www.reddit.com/r/Rogers/comments/1fuiepl/price_increase_warning/ I recommend you look for promotion period every year to find the best plan for your own need.
