I recently switch my home internet to 1Gbps plan which should be 1Gbps download and 100Mbps upload. But real speedtest (on a wired connected desktop computer) result shows the download speed is good but upload speed is only about 30Mbps. Is anyone else have the same issue?

Have you tried moving your router to a different part of your house? There may be interference which affects the speed of your Internet connection.

I don’t think so. I did the test on a wired desktop pc. And the download speed is right, but the upload speed is much lower: actual 30Mbps vs advertised 100Mbps.

Ok so this is was with an ethernet cat 5 cable conneciton?

If the upload speed can reach 1Gbps, will the same ethernet cable limit the upload speed to 30Mbps?

Just confirming if you’re using a standard wired connection. In this case, it looks like 10% of the bandwidth is allocated to uploads. So it’s possible there is congestion in your local area of others using up the full upload bandwidth, limiting you to 30.  If you also have a bunch of devices connected, they may be using some of that available upload bandwidth. If your’re running a VPN at the same time, it can also limit your upload speeds.

You can also try restarting your modem and router. If it persists past today, and you confirmed no other devices are chewing up your upload, you can try scheduling a callback to request technical support on the matter.

I’m sure I don’t have other devices to limit my upload speed. So do you mean the 100Mbps upload speed is shared among others in my local area?

Not the 100 mbps for you, but the total available in your local area. Whatever that local area bandwidth limit is.

That’s sad. I think the description of the upload speed is a false statement.

How long has it been at 30mbps?

I tested several times today. It was almost always at around 30Mbps.

You may want to schedule a callback through Koodo Assist and speak with a rep. They would be able to look into it and refer you to the appropriate department. https://Koo.do/Chat

If it persists to today as well, I’d then look into opening a technical support ticket.
