On April 10th I was charged $14 for Easy Roam while driving through Midway from Nelson to Kelowna. I received 2 text messages around this time, sent nothing and made no calls. This is an ongoing problem due to insufficient network coverage along Highway 3 which parallels the border through BC. Using Airplane mode for hours is not a realistic solution. Limiting network connection is not realistic in this part of the world, It’s a Bell tower that allows reception in my home. So I look forward to this charge being reversed, please and thanks.
Hi
Please reply back here or start a new post once the bill is ready and we will definitely look into it.
In the meantime, we recommend checking out this article to find our more about how to prevent accidental roaming when close to the border.
Just got my bill and the roaming charge is on it. Please have it removed, Thanks.
Hi
We have reviewed the details and we have been able to remove the charge since it was caused by accidental roaming.
You should be able to see the amount due updated in self serve shortly.
Thanks very much. Interested to know if possible why the charge was incurred as the linked document states it won’t be incurred if receiving plain text.
It was a very low data usage that triggered the accidental roaming charge, best is to switch the network mode to manual and select Koodo when near the border. This way the phone won't be able to connect to a US carrier.
