NFC simcards for phones

Userlevel 1
much like its owner Telus that now has NFC sim cards, it would be nice to have the same thing here, so that you can pay with your phone with out needing your credit card in your pocket

Interestingly enough, I just asked an Apple rep online if I could bring my unlocked iPhone 6 (reserved) to Koodo and was told that in order to work with iPhone 6 a carrier must support GSM and [b]NFC nanosim cards. Since it looks like Koodo will also be carrying iPhone 6, this could mean we might imminently seen them supporting NFC sims (nanosims at least).

Your iPhone will work perfectly fine on Koodo. You simply won't be able to do mobile payments with it.

Sorry if this is considered necro'ing this thread, but I just wanted to say that my iPhone 6 is working fine with the SIM I got from Koodo. Interestingly, it appears that this particular phone might not even rely on an NFC SIM for Apple Pay (whenever it arrives here in Canada); there are reports of it working in the US with non-NFC SIMs (see http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/iphone_touchplatform/index.html#item.199605).
Great news! If you own an NFC enabled smartphone, as of June 15, 2015 you can purchase an NFC Sim for $5 from any Koodo Shop that will allow you to tap and pay for purchases with your phone where available. For details visit https://www.koodomobile.com/mobilepayment.
