New phone will not connect to any wifi,

New phone will not connect to any wifi, I tried the password, I tried turning the router off and back on, I tried taking out the battery and sim card, I tried turning off the mobile data, I tried the wifi in McDonalds and it will not connect. The phone is a Lumina 435/Windows, prepaid. I am so frustrated, even my teen family members can't do it

Is your WiFi turned on on your phone? The mobile data toggle has nothing to do with your WiFi. It should be under Settings > WiFi.

If it's on, can you see any networks? If not try switching WiFi off, then back on. If still no luck, try a soft reset: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mobiledevices/wiki/mdlumia-mdsettings/how-to-soft-and-hard-reset-...
If that doesn't solve anything, a hard reset (factory reset) may be necessary. This will wipe all data from your phone, but seeing as though it's new, you shouldn't really be losing anything. Do backup anything you may need.

If it still doesn't work, then it sounds like you may have a defective device. You should be able to return it for a new one if it's been less than 15 days since purchase. If not, it'll be covered by warranty.

Does your Bluetooth work? If it doesn't work either then I'm certain that it's a defective phone.

Also keep in mind that when using public wifi such as free store wifi you have to open your browser and accept their terms of service before you can fully connect.
