Using Positive Tab to Get New Phone and Switch Out


Hello,

I currently have a line with Koodo with a grandfathered $25 plan for which I have a positive tab balance of $70. I am looking to upgrade my old phone to an iPhone 7. If I switch to a Tab Medium plan, and pay outright the remaining balance on the tab after the $70 credit is applied such that I no longer have a tab balance, and then immediately cancel the plan, will I be charged the full cost of the new plan? Are there any other cancellation fees that I should be aware of?

You will be charged on a proration basis, i.e. whatever day of the billing cycle you cancelled will be a percentage of the bill that you owe. There are no cancellation fees involved. If you want to keep your number be sure to contact the carrier that you want to go with and ask to port over.
I have been with Koodo for almost 6 years now. Do I still need to wait the 90 days before I can immediately pay off the tab balance in full? I am unsure if this applies to plan switches, or just new accounts.

No you do not have to wait 90 days. That's only for new customers.
