I paid off my tab thinking I had to buy a new phone as the screen is cracked. I found out I can get a replacement phone (under the protection plan I pay $9 per month for) for $200. If I put a claim in to get a replacement phone, will I still have to pay the additional tab “bonus” from paying my tab off early or is it considered the same phone?

The tab bonus only applies if you get another phone on tab or leave koodo prior to the 24 month term of starting the tab that you recently paid off.
