Paid off tab early


I got my phone last month with a medium tab. I wanted to pay off my tab so that my bill would decrease. I used self serve to do this. It went through and now my tab balance is 0.00. What will happen now that I paid it off earlier than I should have? I didn't know about the 90 day wait.

I just did the same thing. It should be on your next bill, and your monthly tab charge of $15 should be gone. I did not know about the 90 day wait either. Theoretically though, if we weren't allowed to do it, it wouldn't/shouldn't have let us. I just did some searching, and it looks like it's fine to pay off our tab right away, as long as our Tab Med plan stays active for 90 days. That's fine, I'm not going anywhere. We just can't cancel or drop to a lower tier plan, or any.gifts we received with the phone have to be returned/paid for.

I think you can drop to a lower tier plan and cancel too but you have to return the.gifts that you received.

Why do I have to pay an unlocking fee for a phone that has been paid of, after all it is now my phone, all paid for, should be no strings attached

Unfortunately, that's not the way it works. If you have an Android phone, you can find an inexpensive unlock code on eBay or by a web search. If an iPhone, Koodo is likely the cheapest, as third Party unlocking is more expensive. An iPhone unlock needs to be addressed to Apple's servers, so has a time cost, and fees are charged for that.

Thanks, just called Koodo, they unlocked it and have, I think, just sold the phone on Kijiji

David, unlocking takes less than 5 minutes, and considering outsourced customer service reps are paid even less than Canada's minimum wage, charging $50 is just greed. Koodo/TELUS increased it from $35 to $50 claiming that it costs too much when in reality they probably thought "if Bell and Rogers can charge that much, why shouldn't we?"
