Old Tab; new phone; damaged SIM

Hi everyone, I don't know if the following topics have already posted, and I apologize if it has, but could somebody please address them: 1. I joined Koodo on October 2012 and went with the Tab option. In my understanding, new rules were implemented from July 2013 that cleared customers off their Tab balance in 2 years. Being an old customer, when does my Tab clear? Is it after 3 years or do I just have to wait until it reaches zero (which I feel is pretty unfair for older customers)? 2. Also, if I bring a purchased phone over to Koodo, do I get a 10% discount? There was mention of something of that sort but I don't know if it was intended for new activations. 3. Lastly, If I damaged my SIM, do I have to purchase a new one or am I eligible for a replacement? Thank you Riaz

1. The old Tab system went down by 10% of your bill but there was no discernible time period for clearing it. I think all customers with old agreements can have their subsidies moved to 2 year payoff at some point in 2015, from the last time I checked, but I'm not sure. You can also payout your Tab anytime you want in Self Serve or when you go to a store to upgrade your phone, it usually gets invoiced out to you. You don't have to wait until it's 0. 2. Yes, as long as you have a negative Tab balance. If you still had -50 left, for example, but broke your phone and replaced it with a phone from elsewhere, you would still continue paying off that old Tab like normal. 3. They're included for free when you activate a new phone, but if you just need it replaced, it normally costs $10 + tax. Call customer service and see if they can set you up with a new one.
Thanks for the reply 🙂 Regarding 1., if I choose to talk my way out of the Tab balance, how long would the term be before my Tab balance turns to zero (i.e. the new Tab system clears users within 2 years but how about my case)?

That depends on your current plan and how much tab you have left.

And how much overage you incur. The more you spend per month, the more that 10% if worth toward your tab. But June 3 2015 should be when all plans my be under the new Wireless code, however it is currently under appeal. http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/info_sht/t13.htm

My plan is sort of old and it is for 25. I had 50 left. I think Dennis answered my question indirectly. My question was when would my Tab expire (i.e. the maximum term for the Tab now is 2 years and then it clears but I wanted to know what it was on my plan)? Seems like my plan had no such clause or maybe it did. I couldn't find anything in the papers given to me when I signed up though. I am disappointed about that though but thanks everyone for trying to help 🙂
