Issues related to changing plans


I have a 45$ plan with a Galaxy S3 and I got it at 0$ with the medium balance. If I change my plan via the koodo website, will I have to pay additionnal fees and will this change the price of my phone even though I would keep the balance? I think I don't really need the data and I could be fine with only the WIFI and a 30$ plan.

There shouldn't be any additional charges. If you were to make the change today, this is how your next bill would look: New Rate Plan(normal month price) New Rate Plan(prorated price) Old Rate Plan(prorated credit).

The $30 plan should be fine. Tab M requires at least a $30 monthly plan. The $5/month tab fee will still apply each month on top of your $30 plan.

Hi there... You can definitely change your plan, your TAB won't be affected and you will keep the 5$ TAB charge on top of your plan... The plan change online takes effect right away and you can do it once per billing cycle. There is no cost to change it yourself on the Self Service account. Remember, if your plan is an expired plan, then you wont be able to go back to it...

There are no additional fees for changing your plan on Self Serve. This does not change the price of the phone you already have paid. However your Tab is being paid off at 15% of your monthly plan, overages, etc. So if you take a smaller plan, then your Tab is being reduced at a slower pace. But either way, your existing Tab will be zero'd after 2 years no matter what

Not quite how it works. If you look at a CSA, it will show that a $300 Tab balance is paid off at $12.50/month (300/24) with this breakdown: 15% of customer's bill + $5 tab charge + what I like to call "Koodo's top-up", if any is needed, to ensure it reaches 12.50. If a customer has the $60 plan on Medium Tab, however, then the tab is finished around 20/21 months, which is awesome. The CRTC rules state that a subsidy/Tab must hit $0 before the 24 month mark with equal payments over that time frame. After talking to my FSR, Koodo's original plan of "wiping the Tab" wasn't approved so they had to switch to this system (which I think is better anyway).

So as I right now, if I had the $30 plan on the Medium tab and I decide to cancel after 1 month, which Tab balance will I have to pay off (Option 1 or 2) 1) $300 - (15% x $30 + $5) = $290.50 2) $300 - ($12.50) = $287.50

Did you get Medium Tab immediately when it became available or was it a few months later?

Should that matter since the CRTC said it wasnt approved. I'm just asking so that I can give the appropriate answer. I have the the BYOD discount on all my lines so I dont see how the Tab gets reduced. But if it is Option 2, then I dont see the point of the 15% (it just complicates things). It should just be: you contribute $5 and Koodo contributes $7.50 (for the Tab M of course)

The contribution is 15% + the $5 for the medium tab charge.

Well with that calculation, Koodo isn't WCOC compliant.

Which is why Koodo will wipe the remainder of the negative tab if it's not cleared after the 2 years.
