Free Paper bill plus a double tab for veterans?

Someone posted a great idea of free paper bills for Seniors. The discussion added points like if it's a smart phone no but a flip phone yes. but let's make it what it should be: [b]Canadian Vets should get a double tab or something + free paper bills. Plus 1 this then get 5 more people you know to do the same!

Most seniors don't buy high end smartphones, barely even mid-end. What would be the point in a double tab? It would barely/rarely be used except by the children of those veterans to take advantage of the double tab probably. I'm all for the "or something" though 😛

I'm not a fan off this. There are seniors that collect more in pension than people who are still in the workforce. Think about the teachers. And where should we draw the line. Someone just posted something about students getting a break. Natives? Who is next in line? You don't have to have a cellphone or you could get a prepaid plan without the bills. Most seniors keep their phone in the car for just an emergency. Prepaid is the best option for them.

Chris, You're saying you're not a fan of something as a benefit for veterans who have put their lives on the line to protect our nation and human rights around the world. I agree there are wage disparities, I was a teacher: trust me I know the horror of that paycheck. But I am just talking about vets, not all the other groups you've mentioned, so please stay on topic or start a new thread? thanks

It doesn't matter who they are. By the same token our police men and women should also be entitled because they risk their life everyday for us. You see where this leads? There is a simple answer. the reason why I'm paying taxes so our soldiers who return from duty would be looked after by our government. If they were they wouldn't need the break paper bills.

That statement is offensive. He doesn't support dubious overseas engagements so you're suggesting that he be shot? That's neither funny nor clever and such statements have no place here. And we're now seriously off topic.

Geoff, it doesn't matter. You are going off topic. Please refrain from going off topic. Discussing opinions on military is not what this thread is about. If you wish to take this to another forum, you're more than welcome to do so, however this forum is not the place for it. ________________________ If you see a good answer, give it a star.

Perhaps Myke, But suggesting our veterans are "pawns in the US sick game they are playing in trying to take over the world." That is offensive

What is offensive is purely subjective. That being said, once the discussion diverted into this, it became off topic and it shouldn't have been. That being said, replying with the same off topicness doesn't make it right. If what you're typing isn't in relation to the original post, then it shouldn't be typed. ________________________ If you see a good answer, give it a star.

Good point, I'd give it a star but it's an inline comment. (Virtual star)

So if Vet's getting a discount spawns customers/"Masters" to claim Evils. Perhaps it should not be implemented. Some feel those who serve are worthy, obviously some feel they shouldn't.

It's a neat idea. Veterans definitely put their life on the line to protect our country. But just like what everyone mentioned already, this will not automatically bring most veterans to join Koodo because they are financially stable already and probably most are not tech savvy.

Just wondering why everyone here seems to be assuming that veterans==seniors? A veteran is anyone who has served in the military, particularly in combat. This includes those who have served or are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is not to say that I particularly support this idea. Veterans do deserve support, and typically require a lot of help once they return from active duty, but I don't see where a cheaper cellphone would be all that useful. Also, why would an Iraq vet not be able to view their bill through self serve?

Similar request was suggested in this Post: Paper bill charge free for senior citizens. http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/paper_bill_charge_free_for_senior_citizens , If Koodo one day decided to do it for Seniors & for Veterans, I would suggest also to do it for Women and Kids, why not for everyone!

Mat Love the smiley comment, as for everyone, again keep on focus: has everyone served their country like a veteran?

wait, are you saying 80% of Canadians are using the internet; seems believable...where is that stat from? Is it representative of all population groups? Either way, can we give something to vets? that's the focus

First question: In 2012, 83% of canadians were using internet Second question: Definitely agree, we should give more to Canadian Vets, they deserve better. http://www.google.ca/#output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=canadian+internet+usage&oq=canadian+internet+us&gs_l=hp.1.2.0l4.83762.91153.0.96106.26.15.3.8.9.0.218.2312.0j12j1.13.0...0.0...1c.1.16.psy-ab.Z9Bcglsa14c&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.47534661,d.dmg&fp=6a47788ae1ad4b40&biw=1024&bih=589

thanks Mat, but again is it representative of all population groups? And if you think we should give more to Vets, give the idea a +1
