Can I use a positive tab (accumulated under a classic tab) towards the purchase of a phone on a new activation (new number/new account)

I have had my 25$ account with Koodo for about 5 years now. I was accumulating a positive tab on the account until they just recently stopped that and gave me the option of getting $150 credit towards a new phone. Can I use this credit on a new activation, meaning a new number activation while I still keep my old number and phone? Reason for doing hat is that I still want to have my old phone number with that same plan for a few more months and have someone that could use that for a couple of months. Once we no longer need that, I suppose I could either cancel the old plan or pay the remaining balance on the new phone for the new account and then use that phone on my old plan.

Since you do not have a Tab balance on your existing phone, you can get a new one and use as you wish. If you want to add a new line on your account, or open a new account, all you will need is the SIM card associated with that new number to put in the phone.

Just be aware that with a $25 plan, you will likely need to choose a phone priced on the Tab Small list.

Only if you activate a new line.  You'll have to do the math to see which makes more sense for you. You’ll need to confirm if you can use the $150 credit for a new line, as I recall it is tied to your current line.

so basically you do not think I can use my current credit towards a new activation. What is the best way to confirm this?

Your positive Tab is attached to your line and it's not transferable.

If you want to have benefit of activation bonus for your new phone, then you have to open a new line/number. (You can't use your positive tab)

Or you can buy a new phone using your positive Tab and  start a new tab on you. So you will pay tab fee under your line for new phone.( No activation credit)
Then add a new line/number using new phone. You keep your old phone and number.

You can't have both benefit of activation credit.gift and using your positive tab for your new phone...

thank you both. I went through the steps on my account and saw that if I am adding a new line to my existing account, then it shows that I don't get activation credits, which basically means that I am getting a phone at market price, but can put some of the cost on a tab.
The only option that will benefit from activation credit and where I could use my positive tab is to upgrade my phone, for which I would have to change my plan which I do not want to do. so I have to give it some thought. ....
