Unlocking my phone

I'm switching service providers so I need to unlock my phone from Koodo but the self serve system isn't accepting my IMEI number. I bought the phone a year ago, not from Koodo so I don't understand.  What do I do now?

New phones ((post 12/2017) are probably no longer locked. Did you buy the phone new (last year)? Did you try to test the new provider’s SIM card to see if it is rejected?

@Ferni we don’t unlock phones not purchased from us.

If you used this phone (that you did not buy from koodo) for the last year with a koodo SIM,  it means that the phone is not locked.

Where did you actually buy the phone from?
