Porting from Telus but no SMS Message

Hello! New Koodo customer here and once my SIM card arrives I need to do the port from Telus. I received instructions and am confused by this:

  • After completing your number transfer, please do not remove your previous carrier's SIM card from your phone until you respond (within 90 mins) to the port authorization SMS from your previous service provider. (If you are an existing TELUS or PUBLIC Mobile customer, you will not receive this SMS).

If I have to wait for an SMS but I’m not going to receive an SMS then am I just supposed to wait 90 minutes and then I can switch the SIM? Sorry if this is obvious but I don’t want to mess anything up as I absolutely do not want to lose my existing number. Thank you!

If you are coming from Telus then you dont have to worry about anything in that message. You can remove the sim right away.
