New phone and sim

When I get a new phone and SIM from Koodo - my understanding is that they give you a temp phone number .  I's this correct? I read somewhere that you had to use your old Sim

Are you a new or existing customer?

If you are a new customer, the SIM is activated with a temporary number and you could change it later.

If you are an existing customer, the new SIM is an inactive SIM, you can use the old SIM or switch to the new one following this https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/koodo-sim-support

I am coming to Koodo from virgin mobil.  So when I pick a phone I say I want to port my own number - correct?  Then when I get the new phone I put in new SIM and go to self serve and request to have my number ported from virgin mobil to Koodo - correct?

Yes to both, when you receive the phone/sim later, you could follow this to port number from Virgin into Koodo https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/moving-your-number-koodo

I am not sure if I answer the question but you use Koodo self-serve to port the number from Virgin into Koodo.

I guess it does not matter which phone I use to get into Koodo self serve.   Just trying to make sure I don't mess it up!

It doesn’t matter which phone you use. All you have to do is to log in to your Self-Serve account and port your number over. Make sure you don’t cancel your account with Virgin Mobile or else you will lose your number. Make sure before you do, unless you already setup the Koodo account, to get someone you know with Koodo to refer you so you both get a credit bonus on your account.
