I just upgraded my wife’s phone. Completely forgetting I have a phone to trade in. Am I still eligible to take it to a store for a trade in credit?

eh, No, normally trade-in must happen before the actual purchase/upgrade.
you could, however, sell the old phone on Craigslist or ebay to see if you got a better price.
We have always sold our old phones on facebook market place.
Really easy and always got a good price.
If you visit market place and search for the make and model of your phone you can see what prices they generally fetch.
