By calling voicemail do you mean you see your number? You will see your number displayed on the bill and usage summaries if you get a call from an unknown number or something similar.
it shows outgoing call as my number to the voicemail number and I didn't call my voicemail and it's saying the call was 5 seconds long no incoming missed calls show

can you tell me if my phone is off for a few days and someone sends me text messages how long will they stay on my phone unread before they delete ? i have a prepaid phone ?

I still don't understand why my phone calls the voicemail number when my phone is off and I am not calling voicemail and as I said it says only 5 seconds used

When someone calls you and your phone is off (or if you are talking at the time of the call), it forwards to voicemail. These call attempts show up as outgoing calls on your history, and you are not charged.

If the caller doesn't leave a message, there is no way for you to find out which number called. Incoming calls will only show up in history if you answer them.

I have the exact same thing happening for the past 2 years. I only use my phone for texting. I have some phone minutes for emergency purposes only. If someone calls my cel I don't answer it. Apparently the call goes to voicemail even though I have never activated voicemail. I get a notification on screen of a voicemail and a phone # is listed 705-780-4001. I never check it plus I couldn't if I wanted to because I have never set up an access password. When I check my account my phone minutes are being used up. Sometimes it says the calls are 5 seconds and sometimes only 2 seconds.
Numerous Koodo reps have tried to figure this out to no avail. None can explain how it is possible. They see I have never set up voicemail and can't check it anyway. My lost minutes have been credited back to me but I am very frustrated by the time it takes to monitor and correct this Koodo problem. I am also angered by a couple of supervisors basically accusing me of lying re this issue.
I am also a prepaid customer. I wish this glitch could be solved permanently. Please help

Not setting up your voicemail login does not prevent people from leaving messages. If you want to do so, setup your voicemail, then choose option 3 to manage your greetings. Then choose 4 for manage extended absence greeting. Record an extended absence greeting and you will be given the option to not accept messages. Activate this and you'll never get a voicemail again.

will this option stop my minutes from being used up? It has been explained to me by Koodo service that if I haven't checked voicemail my minutes should not be used up. I have never checked voicemail and my minutes keep disappearing. At least 10 Koodo reps and techs couldn't explain how that was possible.

Check to see if your booster minutes (on the overview screen of prepaid self-serve) are in fact being depleted. The usage details may show minutes being used when people call your voicemail, but it should not actually be using your minutes at all.

Koodo has informed me that my phone was using an old logarithymn which was depleting my minutes even though I wasn't checking my voicemail. They informed me my phone/plan has been updated and the issue is resolved. I hope that is the case. Time will tell.
Does this sound like a valid reason to you?
Thank you for your response.

Logarithm? No. Algorithm? Quite possibly.
