Hi, I've been looking for a prepaid smartphone plan for the occasional phone call and light internet browsing, and have calculated that if I use a $15 Koodo base plan and buy 500 minute and 1gb data boosters and average around 100 minutes and 200mb per month, that works out to an average of $26 a month, which is cheaper than the other plans I've looked at. The only problem is that there's no Koodo store in my home town. So I'm planning to buy an android phone from my local Wal-Mart and then get my prepaid Koodo plan online. So, are there any disadvantages that I should know about, such as extra costs or any situations where I would have to travel out of town to physically go to a Koodo store?

No extra costs at all. Order a PREPAID sim card from Koodo online and once it comes in, go to https://activateprepaid.koodomobile.com/ (or go to koodomobile.com and on the bottom oof the page "Activate Prepaid phone") and then put the sim card in the phone and you're good to go. Of course make sure the phone is either a Koodo phone or unlocked.
