hi,
If you move away from Koodo to Public Mobile, you need to do it in Public Mobile selfservice https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/How-do-I-move-my-cell-phone-number-to-Public-Mobile/td-p/11

If you have issues with the porting, you could ask people in the Public Mobile forum there.

You would need to port the number over to Public Mobile. Probably better to ask them about the specifics of how to do so, since porting out really has very little to do with Koodo.

Thanks guys!
before I follow the instructions from that link. Give more infos of my case.
Went to Wow bought a public plan, they tried to move my Koodo number to public, but it failed, because of it is prepaid.
Called Koodo service, they ask me to post qestion here for solution.

I want to confirm steps here: Active the new Public temp number first. -> follow the above link to port current koodo number to public. Is it sound correct?

cheers

It sounds correct.
You are moving away from Koodo, so don't expect Koodo to do much for you. Public Mobile is your new carrier 🙂 ask them.

Being prepaid should have no impact on whether a number can be ported. The number has to be active though, you can't port an inactive number.

I went through the same thing recently going from Koodo postpaid to Public Mobile. For some reason you can't port your current Koodo number directly in to Public. It even says that on the sign up screen if you choose to port a number in. It specifically mentioned Koodo. You need to activate your Public Mobile account with a temporary number first and then you'll be able to port your Koodo number in through your Public account.
Thank you all for the reply.
I am working on it, actived Public Mobile, searching on public mobile forum and find the reason of problem.
Both Public Mobile and Koodo prepaid are in same back end. Which means they are in same system, which brings the problem of phone number cannot be transfer directly.
The solution should be send private message to Public modrater team , they should be the people to help it out. I am now waiting for their reply. Hope they process it quickly. Will update the information later to you guys.

Both Koodo and Public Mobile should put this information on website somewhere of number transfer area. It will save clients to do the seaching home work with grumpy face.

The instruction is there in the publicmobile forum, the 1st topic at the "getting started". https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/bd-p/getting_started
https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/Transferring-your-number-to-Public-Mobile/td-p/20

PM and Koodo are from the same company but they separated operation independently.

Yes read that topic before, but this didnt work for Koodo Prepaid transfer.
in Koodo Prepaid case, it has to be transfer case by case by their modirator_team. And this information didnt be posted on website. You have to dig it out in their comunity by yourself. The reason as i knowledged from PM forum is , both Koodo prepaid and PM has same back end. If you using same email to regist, that bring the problem. Has to waiting for the reply from Mod team. And i am still waiting now. Thank you for your information.
Update
Koodo Mod team replied my message. They fix that problem. The number transfered successfully.
thanks for people who respond my questions here!
