Switch to prepaid didn't work.

Hi, I recently tried to switch from a plan to prepaid, following the advice on this forum. I bought a prepaid sim card and activated it, porting my number. I have an email confirmation that the prepaid account has been activated, but my phone still only works with the old sim card (1 day later) and not with the new sim card. Do I have to call and cancel the old account? I thought this would happen automatically. Thanks!

Resolution: I restarted the phone one more time just now and now it's working. Maybe I had to wait until business hours for someone to transfer it over?
