Prepaid US Text Add-On

With Rogers prepaid we added a US Text package for our last trip, why does Koodo Prepaid not offer something similar?

Why is that some companies let prepaid phones work in the States while others don't?

I'm not sure, I used to be with Rogers because they offered international roaming (text & calls only) and now with Koodo I'm forced to buy international SIMs... so I'd be very happy with an addon like that!

I think the biggest reason is unbilled charges that have the possibility to show up a month after the user has used. Since koodo prepaid is PREPAID there might be the possibility of charges after the user has already cashed out or doesn't have enough funds to cover the additional charges.

This may be specific to Koodo / Telus and that would likely be the reason Telus prepaid roaming isn't available either. Telus hasn't made the necessary roaming agreements. My opinion only.

I'd agree 100%, Chad, if no Canadian prepaid carrier offered international roaming. But Rogers is quite happy to charge (through the nose, lol) for worldwide roaming. They only offer calling & texting but when I travelled to Europe in the past, it was actually better than having to bother with local providers and all that. Of course now with Koodo I have no choice but I don't see why they couldn't sell a chunk of 50 minutes and texts or so for $25 or so. Steep... yes but the convenience would be awesome 🙂
