Your phone needs to operate on 3G/WCDMA/HSPA/HSDPA (all different terms for the same thing), frequency bands 850/1900. If it does, it will work with Koodo. Hard to give you any more information without knowing the specific phone you're looking at.

Hi Encio! Can you give us more info on that model? It seems to be a TV Box. Who is the manufacturer of the device you are mentioning? Or can you provide a link with the specs?

If it's the Samsung Galaxy S5, it will work.

By the way, if you have the IMEI of the phone, click here http://koo.do/1aU1u0o to know if it's compatible with our network. Thank you!

I'd avoid this link. There isn't a shortage of verified sources for buying phones from overseas.

I'm actually have my own business and a lot of my items come from China and my sellers have very good quality stuff as well as great prices. The phone I was looking at is pretty much the same as a iPhone 5 just a more affordable price 🙂

So it sounds like an iPhone clone. However without knowing the phone model or network frequencies it can run on we won't be able to help. Chances are that if it can run on China Mobile or China Telecom that it probably won't work. If it runs on China Unicom then it should work.

I've written a guide about bringing your own unlocked device to Koodo: http://mobilemasters.koodomobile.com/the-comprehensive-guide-for-bringing-your-unlocked-device-to-koodo/ Please disregard using Koodo's compatibility checker for the time being as it isn't working properly. Instead, verify compatibility by making sure that the phone has the correct HSPA, UMTS, or WCDMA (different names for the same thing) bands.
Can you tell me whether this would work?

It wouldn't unfortunately =[
Some bands are compatible but not all, your reception would be spotty at best.

The K80m won't work but if you get the Vibe X2 it will if you have the 850/1900 3G frequencies. I don't trust Lenovo devices for software/updates. I don't recommend looking for more Asia only phones. They're often designed specifically only for China and rarely support the frequencies you need here.

Can you tell me why it won't work? It says "3G:WCDMA 850/1900/2100MHz,TD-SCDMA B34/B39"

Koodo uses:
3G HSPA+ 850/1900
4G LTE 1700/2100
The Vibe X2 should work on 3G
