Last day for the $60/10GB Promo...try this last ditch effort to get results

If you're one of the thousands of people still waiting on hold with Koodo, and you lost your entire weekend and called into work sick on Monday, try this method to get results.  [b]Please note: follow this step by step.

1. Go to a Koodo kiosk or Koodo retailer and add a line to your account with the $60/10GB plan.  Choose any phone number they offer
2. Purchase a Koodo or Telus prepaid sim card*.
3. Purchase yourself a coffee, you're halfway done.
4. Setup a prepaid line and port the number you want to keep to this prepaid line.  This will then deactivate that line with Koodo and basically reserve your phone number.  Remember the PIN or the account number for the pre-paid line; you'll need it later.
5. Log into Koodo Self Serve and under the new line go to Overview > View Rate Plan > Manage Your Phone Number.  From here you can port your number from the pre-paid line you set up.  That's it, that's all.  Make sure to take advantage of the 10 day unlimited data.

You will receive a final bill for the line that was deactivated, and the new line will be pro-rated.  It pretty much balances out.

* You can port out to other carriers (pre-paid), but you may have to wait up to 30 days to port back in.  By porting to Koodo or Telus (pre-paid) you can port back into Koodo post paid instantly.

I have found at times that using Chrome to set up the pre-paid accounts doesn't always work (page errors.)  I've had good results using Edge or Firefox.

Wouldn't it be easier to just go to another carrier (like Telus) that's offering the same deal and port out to them? Curious what's making you stick with koodo if you have to jump though hoops to get this offer?

Some people just want to stick with Koodo (brand loyal.)  In the end, it's their phone number, they can do what they wish.

I wouldn't port out a number before the new line is set up with a new number and you're sure to get the plan. Also, brand loyalty is somewhat overrated... As Paul said I wouldn't recommend jumping through hoops when you can just legitimately get the deal in a much easier way.

Step 1 "Set up new line with new number and plan."  Step 4 "Port out number to prepaid."

Sophia, don't forget that you have to spend $20 for a prepaid SIM to jump through the hoops.

Do you get charged for the new line you added? Or you can cancel it before they charge you?

You'll just have to purchase a sim card when they activate the new line.  If you cancel the line, then you'll lose the plan.

I just want to add this this method as well, please make sure after all the numbers are ported and you are done to[b] insert the sim card with the new line into your phone.
Does it matter if the new account ($60/10gb) is in someone else’s name?

Not sure what you mean?  You can just put the Sim associated with the account in any phone.
