Koodo prepaid plan with a Telus prepaid phone?

Hi there. My mom is planning a trip across Canada and recently purchased a prepaid Telus phone. After some checking it looks like all of Telus' prepaid plans are useless for traveling so I'm thinking Koodo might work. She has an Alcatel Onetouch flip phone. I'm thinking the $35 base plan will work for her, but the part about automatically renewing every 30 days has me confused.

First up, it should be possible to put a Koodo sim card into this phone, right? I know Koodo sim cards work in other Telus phones without having to be unlocked, so I'm hoping that's the case here.

Is it possible to get this $35 plan and NOT renew it every 30 days? She'd like to just keep the phone until she needs it and then pay to reactivate it.

If she buys any boosters, will they go away if she lets the base plan lapse, or will they remain once its reactivated?

Thanks!

Well it's an old phone, so it might not work with Koodo without unlocking it. you could definitely try though. You can use the plan for one month and not renew for sure 🙂

As for the boosters, they will stay as long as she doesn't let the account expire (90 days after it becomes dormant)

Ok, so she could get the $35 base plan, not renew it after 30 days, then renew it like a month or two later, and if she had a booster, it would still be there?

It'll only go away if she leaves it unpaid for over 90 days?

If she doesn't renew her base plan, after 90 days the entire account will be cancelled, number, boosters, etc. If she reactivates it even if it's the $15 one, all her boosters will still be there and she can continue to use them again.
