Is it possible to use an existing smart phone device on Koodo prepaid?

I would like my young son to have a cell phone with him when he visits his dad which is only a few times a year. I already have an old smart phone (Samsung Messenger) kicking around so I'd love to use that on a prepaid plan if possible. Thanks

Is the phone originally from Koodo and takes a SIM card? If the answer to both of those is yes, it's rather easy. Just go to a Koodo shop and they'll help you out. If it's not originally from Koodo but it accepts a SIM card, then you'll have to unlock the phone first and make sure the frequencies are compatible here: http://koodomobile.com/en/on/switch2koodo.shtml (not 100% accurate but it is a helpful tool) If it doesn't have a SIM card, then you're out of luck. Koodo prepaid only uses the HSPA network so CDMA phones are not eligible. You will have to get him a new phone.
