I think he's referring to Koodo chip as (SIM), if it's that, he can use it his Virgin phone (that should be unlocked first)

The phone originally obtained from Virgin would need to be unlocked before it will work with Koodo. There's no guarantee it'll be perfect, either. Check if it's compatible here: http://koodomobile.com/en/on/switch2koodo-step-1-c.shtml

Most of Bell/Virgin unlocked phones are compatible with Koodo/Telus network, except CDMA phones.

Hi Ginger You can use the chip(sim card) in another networks phone but that phone would need to be unlocked 1st, which usually cost around 50$ through the carrier or you can get it done online usually for much cheaper. There are a ton out there but some good ones I've used are cellunlocker.net and Mobileincanada.com
If you want to use your koodo sim card on your phone, make sure your phone is free of any network lock.If it's network locked one,you will need to unlock it.For unlocking you can approach your service provider or else try to buy an unlocking service from any one of the online unlocking service provider like http://www.mobileunlocksolutions.com/supported-phones/rs1wp7/
