Account must have enough service credits to cover the cost of the plan. crtc says i have 7 days

CRTC says to a minimum seven-day grace period in order to “top up” your prepaid card account and retain your balance. So I ask if this is the way it should be now my base plan keeps going if i dont have full balance seven days after then service ends. I have up to seven days grace of my base plan renewing to get my account topped up

Hi El Moore, In fact you have 90 days after the expiry date to top up your account... then your number/boosters/account is cancelled. Obviously, you won't be able to send text messages or use cells service until you top up, but you do have a grace period which (I think) is quite generous and better than what crtc says 😉

Indeed, a grace period means that the company cannot terminate your account immediately if you're a day late with your payment. It does not mean you have the right to pay late and still keep using the service in the meantime. The ESSENCE of prepaid is that you have to pay BEFORE you use the service.
Thanks tips! Cell phone companies could terminate whatever and whenever before the crtc overhaul so now i understand the grace period reference

Hmmm....not really. For prepaid users the CRTC did nothing. And I'm not sure if they did anything for anyone else. They are mostly yet another over bloated government bureaucracy sucking tax payers hard earned money.

Actually, they did implement policies/rules for prepaid users as well
