Visual Voicemail.

Just like Rogers, I really like the idea of visual voice mail, where my voice mail is transcribed to text and then I simply just read it and delete it with out even having to call my voicemail. I was worried at first of how accurate the transcription was but my friend has it on his rogers mobile service, and it works really really well. His mom has this thick Portuguese accent and the application got every word. It's awesome. https://www.rogers.com/business/on/en/smallbusiness/products/wireless/apps/visualvoicemail/

Hey Andrew, Visual Voicemail is definitely an interest but at this point due to the cost, we won't be bringing it on for the forseeable. Should this change we will let everyone know 🙂.

$10 a month seems like a steep price for something like this.
I said it was a great idea, I didn't say that the cost is at par with what its worth. Shame no one has invented an automatic app that will pick up your call and save it directly to your SD card. Then you wouldn't need voicemail. It would act like a landline recording machine instead it sits on your mobile line. It will use up minutes for voicemai, which is probably cheaper then having the service provided by someone else and then having to use minutes to enter password and listen to all the voice prompts.

iPhones have this functionality. It's also called Visual Voicemail which is why some carriers (like Telus) have branded what you're talking about Voice Mail to Text to help alleviate confusion.
vote for it here! http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/visual_voicemail_for_the_iphone_please

What's the difference between the two threads?

Some may appreciate what you are doing, RylandN, but with the amount of threads you are posting this in, please stop spamming...

I saw a few minutes ago, this thread was labelled as "not planned." Now I see it as "Under Consideration." Very interesting

3 months ago it wasn't planned. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that Ashley mentioned that they are working on it again. Nothing new or secret. Moderator must have seen this thread bumped and changed it to under consideration

Yep. Koodo is currently in works for Visual Voicemail.
I don't know why this would cost so much (maybe just old infrastructure?) Decent Voip providers will sell you a phone line with visual voicemail unlimited Canada and US calls and super cheap international rates for $10 a month. I can't understand for the life of me that there would be ongoing costs to maintain visual voicemail just large setup costs until this key feature is implemented. Paying for the minutes is one thing but old voicemail systems are extremely annoying. I had a 30 second message left for me and with all the prompts and everything it took me over 4 minutes to call voicemail check the message delete it and hang up immediately. With Google Voice or Phone Power (I am in the process of moving back to Canada from the states) I can check my voicemail and label it read online in a web app from anywhere and I get e-mailed wav files so I can listen to the voicemail without logging in (Google voice is of course completely free).
I don't know why people haven't tried YouMail Visual Voicemail Plus. I use it and love it.

I'd have to pay $3 a month to forward calls to the service and I'd either have to put up with ads or pay another $3 for the service from a company I've never heard of and don't necessarily trust with all of my personal details. Google voice is better and totally free but unfortunately not available in Canada. I would much prefer to just have a decent voicemail system from my provider (koodo is after all owned by Telus and Telus has voice to text and visual voicemail on iphone...).
