Using my plan in the States

I am traveling for 1 month; paying the $40 for the talk/text bundle. What bothers me is that I am not using the regular plan that I am also paying for. I think if I am paying the $40 to use my phone while in the United States, I should be able to use the plan I am paying for. I should be able to use my 200 minutes, not just this measly 50 minutes!

I agree, the roaming fees (not just Koodo actually, so consider this a general rant) are steep if not excessive, Jennifer. What I'd do if I were you is unlock your phone and buy a local SIM card there... ok you'll have to give your US number to everyone but it will be a FRACTION of the cost for a whole month! Probably around $40 for unlimited calling, text and a lot of data plus the cost of unlocking your phone might well be worth it!

Hi Jennifer! Your Plan in Canada is only made for Canada, the 40$ ad-dons (Talk/SMS) is intended to be used in USA. regarding your canadian plan, it should be used on Koodo Network, and The USA add-ons should be used on USA network.

Mat, she knows that. She's suggesting an idea so that she can use her full plan in the states.

Which I believe Chad has actually already done, if I'm not mistaken

I would totally support this! Excellent idea. If implemented, there might be a slight increase in the cost of the rate plans as they could be North American Wide opposed to Canada Wide. I remember Bell mobility had somethign like that years ago. Idk if they have it still +1

Well roaming rates are really expensive so in my opinion, unlocking your device and getting a Prepaid US Sim Card will be cheaper if you are into that.

I've been asking for this for years. I would love to stop paying usa companies for prepaid service and switching sims. It'd be great just to pay koodo that money to allow me to use the plan in the states.
I have an unlocked iPhone, and I use O2 in the UK. They give free SIM cards, and free 500 mb data if you buy a ten pound for a month--which I do every year. However, I tried to do the same in the US (a year ago) and found no one who would give or sell me a SIM card. I called a couple of the Cell Phone companies, and they said they are not available in the US, suggesting I get a throw away phone. They could not understand that a smart phone has all my contacts, passwords, emails etc. that I need to access. I have since seen a 3rd party selling a SIM card, but the price is outrageous--about $50 (Canadian Cos charge $10. UK Cos are free). Their rates are certainly cheaper than roaming--but they are no bargain! So, if anyone knows of something else, I would like to hear of it.

A flip throw away phone is $5.00 and you can get 120 min valid for 3 mths. As a standby phone, you cannot beat that. Other solution is to buy a cheap phone like the LGL22C($80) and by a min plan ($25 unlimited with no data or $35 with 1G). Although you can only call in the US, ypu can text in Canafa.

Use all or part of this plan, whatever suits. You don't have to pay for what you don't use
